Circle Infra Partners extends concession with DB Cargo Netherlands for shunting at Chemelot.
Circle Infra Partners, the operator of much of the shared infrastructure on the Chemelot chemical park, has extended the concession with DB Cargo Nederland for five years. On behalf of Circle Infra Partners, DB Cargo will also provide the shunting service on the vast business park for the next five years. In addition to operating the various plants for placing and retrieving wagons, DB Cargo also ensures the safe running of train traffic on the company's own railway network.
The Chemelot rail network comprises a total of 40 kilometres of track, over 120 points and is protected by light signals. Another special feature is that DB Cargo, as part of the concession, ensures the safe departure of third-party trains with destinations elsewhere in the Netherlands and Europe in a strictly neutral way.
Circle Infra Partners' mission is to provide safe, reliable and sustainable infrastructure services, and as a partner for customers at Chemelot, to contribute to Chemelot's transition to a circular and climate-neutral chemistry site. Christian Widdershoven, CEO of Circle Infra Partners, said: 'The extension of our partnership with DB Cargo Nederland excellently demonstrates our commitment to safe, reliable and sustainable infrastructure at Chemelot, in line with our mission for a circular and climate-neutral chemistry site. With the concession to DB Cargo for train shunting at Chemelot, we can continue to guarantee efficient and safe transport for various companies on the site. We look forward to the future with anticipation!'
Nanouke van 't Riet, CEO/COO of DB Cargo Netherlands: 'We are proud of this extension and the trust placed in us by Circle Infra Partners. Circle Infra Partners and the companies based at Chemelot can count on DB Cargo to deliver another good and safe transport performance for the next five years'.
