Building materials and industrial goods
DB Cargo offers a vast range of transport products to serve manufacturers and suppliers of consumer and industrial products in a cost-efficient manner.
We therefore utilise a combination of our knowledge of your sector, carefully devised logistics solutions, high delivery reliability and the large capacity of the modern rolling stock at our disposal. Our network of daily services to destinations throughout Europe makes our proposition complete.
Liquid or solid, refrigerated or not
DB Cargo can provide the appropriate wagons for the carriage of cargo ranging from liquid bulk (such as alcohol for consumer applications) to palletised goods. For instance, we have large capacity sliding-wall wagons with an effective loading length of 22 metres and a standard loading width of 2780 mm, which can carry up to 62 tons of cargo and have a maximum capacity of 63 Europallets. If required, DB Cargo can even arrange refrigerated transport in cooperation with several select suppliers throughout Europe.
Excellent rail access throughout the Netherlands
The seaports of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Vlissingen, Moerdijk, Terneuzen and Delfzijl all offer excellent accessibility by rail. The storage and processing companies based there are also linked to the rail network. DB Cargo serves the Netherlands’ major companies and industrial centres on a daily basis. An ingenious ‘hub and spoke’ system links individual business sites and industrial centres by means of an extensive network of daily scheduled services, which brings the whole of Europe within swift and efficient reach.
DB Cargo works together with rail ports in Veendam, Venlo and Oosterhout, which can prove very useful if a customer or recipient does not have its own branch line. We naturally maintain relations with prominent distribution centres throughout Europe. Our cooperation with these firms also enables us to provide warehousing services and door-to-door service. This combination of warehousing and door-to-door logistics offers customers a greater measure of flexibility in supplying their clients, primarily due to the fact that the (logistic) point of disengagement is much further along the chain and therefore closer to the market. And this is sometimes an absolute necessity, for instance when one has to swiftly adapt (time-to-market!) to changing consumer trends.
Fast, tailor-made block trains
A block train is a complete train designated for a single customer. It runs directly from the shipper to the recipient, without any further marshalling en route. A dedicated block train may prove worthwhile if you have substantial quantities to transport. We can easily provide trains with lengths of up to 700 metres, while train loading and formation can be coordinated to achieve a form of sequencing. DB Cargo uses block trains to meet the most stringent standards in terms of reliability and transit times, such as those imposed by the automotive industry.
