Article: Kijfhoek renewal progress • track bundles 4, 5 and 6 completely renewed • from July 15 start automatic sorting process
On July 15, 2024, DB Cargo will start the automatic sorting process on the completely renewed track bundles 4, 5 and 6 of Kijfhoek. This is possible because the renewal work, including the installation of a new, computer-controlled sorting installation, has recently been successfully completed. During this same period, DB Cargo's hump locomotives were fitted with new on-board equipment for communication with ProRail's new shore-based installation.
After a period of extensive testing of the renewed infrastructure, associated technical installations and signalling systems, DB Cargo has been given the "green light" to start the automatic sorting process on bundles 4, 5 and 6.
Meanwhile, on behalf of ProRail, work has begun on the total renewal of track bundles 1, 2 and 3 and associated technical installations and signalling systems. Completion of the completely renovated sorting station is scheduled by ProRail for mid-April 2025.
The automatic sorting in combination with a number of optimizations of the wagon load network will enable DB Cargo to handle more volumes to existing destinations from July 15. If you have questions about new destinations, about wagon buffering possibilities, please contact your contact person at DB Cargo NL's Customer Service Center.
