Train service around Ascension and Pentecost 2022

Due to the expected limited transport demand, international wagonload traffic to and from the Netherlands will have an adjusted timetable in the period from Wednesday 25 May to Sunday 29 May and from Friday 3 June to Monday 6 June.

Infrastructure manager ProRail uses the Whitsun weekend to carry out a large number of renovation and maintenance work on the Dutch rail infrastructure. The main activities are listed below.

Moerdijk – Lage Zwaluwe

In the period from Saturday 4 June (23:00) to Tuesday 7 June (03:00) no train traffic is possible.

Port railway line Rotterdam and sorting station Kijfhoek

The Whitsun weekend uses infrastructure manager ProRail to work on improving the track in several places at the same time. The Port railway line will be closed to all train traffic from Saturday 4 June (7 p.m.) to Monday 6 June (11 p.m.). The Rotterdam Pernis – Rotterdam Europoort section will be closed even longer, namely from Saturday 4 June (7 p.m.) to Wednesday 8 June (3 p.m.). The Kijfhoek sorting station is closed from Saturday 4 June (7 p.m.) to Monday 6 June (11 p.m.). Limited train traffic is also possible.

Emplacement Rotterdam Botlek

Infrastructure manager ProRail is carrying out extensive work at the Rotterdam Botlek yard in the period from Wednesday 8 June (3pm) to Tuesday 14 June (6pm). As a result of this work, only very limited train traffic is possible at the yard. Operation of the terminals on Theemsweg is not possible at all during this period.
